Its cottage time again! As the heat arrives, so do our swimsuits, jet skis, fishing rods and sunscreen! Every year cottage goers and their friends, alike, flock to their waterfront homes to relax, kick back, and have fun. Whether you’re visiting the great North to go hiking, swimming, or fishing, there are plenty of unique toys available to try and enjoy.
One of the most popular cottage toys is, undoubtedly, the water trampoline. These floating trampolines come in a variety of sizes and often have attachment options, including slides and extensions. Most water trampolines come with “spring-less bouncing,” so you never have to be concerned about rusting or little fingers getting pinched. They are easily inflated and can often be used on either land or water, but the “on water” feature is what makes them so popular with cottagers. Kids (or adults) can spend hours jumping and flipping, all the while never having to worry about a soft landing. Made from lightweight material, water trampolines are portable and sure to impress!
Along the same vein, another increasingly popular cottage toy is the “Iceberg,” or floating rock wall. If you’re an avid cottager, you’ve probably seen these at resorts and vacation properties around cottage country. Like the water trampoline, the “Iceberg” rock wall inflates easily and is relatively lightweight and easy to transport. Most models come with easy to grip handles and four anchor points on each corner, so your rock wall doesn’t float away. Many come with a slide on one side, as a way to celebrate your victorious climb once you’ve reached the top. Some models even include colour-coded steps to highlight climbing difficulty levels. Of course, there are always upgrades. Some manufacturers have created a launch pad that attaches to your rock wall. Once you take the victory slide, a “catapult launcher” sends you flying through the air and into the water. This toy will provide hours of entertainment, while getting you in shape at the same time!
As dusk approaches, and you’re all tuckered out from jumping and climbing all day, it’s nice to wind down and do some leisurely fishing. If you’re eager for a bite, though, it can be a frustrating and tedious experience. So, why not try the newest fishing toy, the “fishing buddy,” a remote control boat which actually searches for and catches fish for you. This product is fun for both kids and adults and allows you to bait for fish without even casting your rod. All you need to do is bait your hook, drive the boat (using the remote control features), and watch the bobber for any signs of nibbling. Combine this with your traditional fishing techniques and you’ll be sure to have dinner on the table in no time.
So, there you have it; cottage toys to keep you entertained from dawn until dusk! Of course, there are many others, but these few have become increasingly popular in recent years. So, grab your swimsuit, lifejacket, bait, and tackle box, because you’ve got some cottaging to do!
